THE Dress

Picture
I started off knowing that I just wanted something not so traditional, short, and "beachy". I tried on dresses without getting my hopes up to high, and ended up not wanting to take it off. I found this dress on the Nordstrom website and had to run out and try it on.

The "Dreded" Hair!

I have locs. In fact, both Sean and I do. Mine are just over 2 years old and starting to touch my shoulders...[insert dilemma here]. I think I plan on wearing a veil, so who knows what's going to happen with my hair. Other options that I've considered: wrapping it, and something with flowers. Ya know, I got locs in the first place to avoid having to do anything with it!

I went ahead and tried out this wavy thing on my head. I spent 24hrs in pain after washing and braiding my locs, and had to pop at least 4 ibuprofen - I'm pretty sure I braided too tight.

Funny, I was trying to figure out what kind of flower I wanted in my hair by scouring Etsy and then trying to figure out exactly how it would look. Then I realized there's a giant bouquet of fake orange flowers on my dining room table - one flower won't be missed, right? This is what I came up with.

So here's the basic style...the side with the flower will be braided back, all locs will be curly. I'll have to do some trials, as I'm not sure whether I want curly-curls or wavy-curls.

This was the end result. I really like the waves! I even tried the above style, but paired with the waves, I hated the flower. I think I could live with it just down and wavy...

Shoes

Picture
Yes, I want to wear orange shoes!!! GASP! Yes, with my short dress I will be wearing colored shoes. Hopefully I'll be able to talk Sean into wearing orange socks...he likes argyle, so I may be able to convince him...

This search is getting ridiculous...I have been unable to find a CUTE pair of orange heels...I thought this was going to be one of the EASY details!

 Makeup

I don't wear makeup....let that be known up front. Ever. Seriously...never (ok, let me stop lying...I wore makeup to my senior prom, 10 years ago). I wash my face with pure hot water in the shower, slather it with lotion when I'm finished, use Apricot Scrub when I feel like I'm breaking out too much, and keep my lips moisturized with Carmex...and sometimes a lightly colored gloss made by Covergirl.

Needless to say, this makeup thing is foreign to me. So my only guidelines are that I look natural, because that's who and what I am. Based on random internet pictures, I'm liking the anti-makeup look of the following women:

Alicia Keys

Jada Pinkett-Smith

Jill Scott
Currently Jada is at the top of the list, as I have always loved her look.

More Etsy love...I saw these earrings on Etsy and contacted the seller about making a matching necklace and bracelets. Needless to say, she has done an AMAZING job!

Just got this in the mail, it's even better in person!

Reception Jewelry

Both pieces are Nadri. I was gifted this set specifically for the wedding but I'd just hate to not wear my custom pieces. I also can't insult the gifter, either. So I'm wearing the shiny stuff to the reception for all to see. I really do like these, though. They're just right for this Natural Girl.
